Briefly about Suicide Boy Manga. 

Suicide Boy Manga about: Circumstances are such that “seventeen-year-old schoolboy Lee Hong is also attempting suicide today. His father, an alcohol addict, ran away after his mother’s death, leaving only a pile of debts. Hikikomori at home. An outcast at school. His life, which has collected every possible trouble, is nothing but gloom. In the future there is only despair, in the present there is only pain. So he tries to commit suicide in all sorts of ways, but they all end in nothing, and today, too, Li Hong goes on with his life…

Suicide Boy Manga. 

The first few chapters may seem like an ordinary one-off, but after 20 chapters you start to fall in love.  The drawings are pretty simple, but they have a certain charm to them. It also comes across as a comedy with a hint of black humor and it doesn’t deceive the reader, it’s not a very funny joke or situation I found, but it does make you smile (and cry, too).  For me personally, this is the first time I’ve really wished for a better main character. The author likes to throw in ambiguous moments about suicide and morality, because of that I wouldn’t call this work an easy read.

At chapter 61, we have three main characters with only their main features described, which is not a plus. The narration is awfully slow.  Surprisingly, Hoon’s moral and spiritual development is noticeable throughout the chapters that have already come out. In the first chapters I thought the main character was a silly teenager, but as the story progressed my opinion changed, even without all the clichéd actions the authors are trying to use to make the characters “good”.
