Briefly about Skip Beat! Manga:

Since she was a child, Mogami Kyoko has loved the fairy tale of Cinderella. So she firmly knows that at the beginning of the fairy tale, the heroine has to work hard and walk around as a slob. She also has to hope for the best. Then at the end she’ll have fairy-tale outfits, a succession of balls, and a wedding with a prince.

She already has a prince. It’s Kyoko’s childhood friend, the handsome Fuwa Sho. He went to Tokyo to become a star. Kyoko went to the capital with him. Sho makes his way in show business. And she cooks, does laundry, and works two jobs to pay for an expensive apartment. Kyoko doesn’t grumble, because that’s how Cinderella is supposing to behave. But then she suddenly discovers that her Prince Charming only values Kyoko as a maid. An indolent, though rather tedious maid. That he only took her to the capital for housekeeping. And he does not care about Kyoko’s loyalty and tenderness at all and is even ridiculous.

Read Skip Beat! Manga.

Thus ended the “fairy-tale” period of Kyoko’s life. Now she realizing that from now on she would be guided by holy revenge. She would prove to the mean Sho that his “tedious maid” was a real star. And he was the last idiot who neglected her!!!! It’s said and done. Kyoko sets out to storm the young talent agency. Of course, the one that competes with her ex-prince’s agency)…

Shoujo, which is several times larger than many “endless” shōnen. And the plot can be describing in a few words. The chapters come out once a month. In all the time it’s releasing (about 10 years now) there’s been almost no progress in the love line of the main characters. The artwork is cute, long legs, big hands, for a fan.

Why can I give this manga a 10/10 without a second thought? Honestly, I don’t know how to answer that question. Why indeed? The main character is sweet, active and dumb-headed. At first glance. But as we read chapter after chapter, we realize the charm of this girl. Kyoko Mogami’s greatest quality is that she never gives up. She bangs through walls with her forehead, stepping over herself and even over others. So, She has a bit of a child’s mindset. She looks at the world with clear eyes and believes in fairy tales. But she has an inner core that no one can break.

And, like every human being. She has “her devils behind her shoulder. And in the truest sense of the word. The story begins with a turning point in Kyoko’s life. She becomes what we will see her become throughout the story – a “cinderella in sneakers”. So, She has closed her heart forever. She can’t stand “LOVE” and lives only with a lust for revenge against her former prince. Who abruptly switched places with the horse. It is this girl that makes this manga so appealing. As many commentators say: “God, it’s Kyoko :D.” Typical Kyoko HD and so on. That’s right, Kyoko Mogami has become not just a “skit bit character” for us, but a heroine with a capital letter.

And not just Kyoko. Tsuruga Ren, with his dark past. Kuon, fake smile and cute pathos. Shotaro (Sho-kun), who is the “idiot prince”. The director of LMC, his granddaughter, Tsurugi-san’s manager. Each character is thought out from clothing style to bad habits in the smallest detail. They are gorgeous, unforgettable and disproportionate (you can’t argue with the fact).

As for the plot and the slow progression of events… Well, let me give you an example. How did the readers feel as they read the final chapters? And especially Breath of Darkness? I’m sure no other manga could evoke similar emotions. It was a blast. “BAH” of bored fans who long for the Kyoko/Ren peyringes. The long wait. And then the mangaka slips us this… Chapter after chapter, we dig in. Feeling every frame, every phrase, every facial expression. And so, the longer the wait, the sweeter the happy ending.) And rest assured, the mangaka slowly but surely brings us to it.

This is not a story of love, revenge, or career advancement. This is the story of an ordinary girl. She was able to experience it all firsthand. You don’t have to scream “ewww, can’t wait for the end.” You don’t have to read for the first kiss. But for every page, laughing at the jokes and crying at the heartfelt feelings. Then you’ll know it’s a “masterpiece in the shoujo genre”.
